Experience the Best Hikes in Gros Morne National Park
Our team has designed the ultimate hiking itinerary for Gros Morne National Park. Every day of the festival, you can choose between two awesome hikes: a moderate Intermediate trail or a challenging Advanced Trek. But remember, we hike in the wild and we can’t control the weather. Be ready for “Newfoundland Weather”. Sunshine, wind, rain and maybe snow can happen in the same hour. Whether we are on the groomed trails or traversing rough backcountry routes, our guides will bring a safe and unforgettable experience, you bring the positive attitude.

Tablelands Full Loop | 15km | Advanced
Walk on the Earth's mantle. This is Gros Morne’s most famous geological wonder, but few see the full picture. Leave the tourist path and traverse 15km of barren peridotite meadows and sheer cliffs. It’s a 6-8 hour expedition through a landscape that looks more like Mars than Newfoundland.
Hike Highlight: Quite possibly the most unique geological hiking experience in Eastern North America.

Lomond SinkHole | 4kms | Intermediate
We'll embark on a off-trail adventure into the remote backcountry of Gros Morne National Park to uncover the hidden Lomond Sinkhole. A hike through the forest canopy opens up to reveal a massive cave nestled amidst towering trees. Descend into its depths and marvel at the sheer size and natural beauty of this geological wonder. The journey to the Lomond Sinkhole is always fan favourite and is the first leg of our Rocky Ridge day hike.
Hike Highlight: An exclusive “festival-only” combination of hiking and cave exploration

The Big Lookout | 16km | Advanced
The ultimate view of Bonne Bay and the long range mountains. This rugged, unmarked trail is a local secret. It begins with a steep climb to remote mountain meadows, offering 360-degree views of the Long Range Mountains and the Tablelands. Prepare for lush peat bogs and an authentic arctic-alpine environment.
Hike Highlight: The single best vantage point to see the entire UNESCO World Heritage Site in one panoramic sweep.

Green Gardens | 10km | Intermediate
A collision of volcanoes and ocean. Descend through the forest to a lush coastline of sea stacks, grazing sheep, and volcanic cliffs. We explore the meadows of Old Man Cove and visit a hidden sea cave during low tide. It’s a geologic trip through time on the edge of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Hike Highlight: A dramatic contrast of landscapes where lush green meadows meet jagged volcanic sea stacks.

Tablelands Off Trail | 8km | Intermediate
Immerse yourself in the orange glow of the Earth’s mantle without committing to the tough full-day Tablelands loop. We navigate the rusty, barren terrain of the peridotite slopes, climbing to a 600-meter vantage point. The contrast between the red rocks and the lush green hills of Bonne Bay creates a photographer's dream.
Hike Highlight: Pound for pound, this trail offers the best panoramic rewards for your effort in the entire park.

The Lookout | 6km | Intermediate
Think of this as the "Little Sibling" to the Big Lookout. A steady climb through lush forest brings you to the highland plateau of Partridgeberry Hill. Don’t let the shorter distance fool you, the payoff is huge. You get a direct line of sight to Gros Morne Mountain, the Tablelands, and the deep blue arms of the Bonne Bay fjord.
Highlight: The closest you can get to walking on Mars without leaving planet Earth.

Gros Morne Base Trail | 10km | Intermediate
The perfect alternative for those who want to get close to the "Big Mountain" without the grueling scree climb. This hike takes you through the lush boreal forest that circles the base. As the trees part, you will find yourself standing directly beneath the towering rock face, humbled by the sheer vertical scale of the peak.
Hike Highlight: Experience the massive scale of Newfoundland’s second-highest peak without the grueling descent

Gros Morne Mountain | 19kms | Advanced
The icon, the beast, the main event. Ascend 806 meters to the rooftop of Newfoundland. This grueling but rewarding loop takes you through Arctic tundra (watch for caribou!) and offers the famous view of Ten Mile Pond. Note: This is a strenuous climb involving loose rock scree. You can do it !!
Hike Highlight: The ultimate bucket-list challenge: Standing on the absolute roof of Gros Morne National Park.

Rocky Ridge Route | 10km | Intermediate
A true festival exclusive. This backcountry traverse takes you across arctic-alpine meadows that are often teeming with wildlife (keep your eyes peeled for moose and caribou). We end at a stunning lookout point that few visitors ever see. It involves some wet patches and uneven ground, but the solitude is and remoteness is unparalleled
Hike Highlight: A “Locals only” trail with huge rewards that you won’t find in the guidebooks.
